The Golwg y Cwm ‘Cynefin Mural’ created in collaboration with Orielodl

Cynefin ~ ‘the multiple intertwined factors in our environment and experience that influence our thoughts and decisions in ways we don’t fully understand’.

The children and staff were delighted to work in collaboration with local artist, Rhys Jones, also known as Oreilodl, to portray their feelings and thoughts about what was important to them in their community.

The children identified key elements such as the Henrhyd Waterfall, the  arches of the old Ynyscedwyn ironworks, the coal mining heritage, Adelina Patti’s home at Craig-y-Nos, our Welsh language and, of course, Maggie the school dog! All of these were woven together by Rhys to create stunning murals that the children then helped to paint.

We think they are fantastic!
